Anti Wrinkle Injections

Fine lines and wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process and although inevitable can be prevented and reduced with Botox muscle relaxant injections.

These small injections work by inducing temporary relaxation of specific facial muscles, so preventing the formation of wrinkles while also softening existing lines.

The most common areas for anti-wrinkle treatments are:
Frown lines (between the eyebrows)
Forehead lines
Crows feet

How does Botox work?

Over time we develop expression lines as a result of muscle movement, such as frowning. Botox is a purified protein, which when injected into specific facial muscles prevents the transmission of nerve impulses to those muscles. This reduces muscle movement and prevents lines and wrinkles from forming giving dramatically smoother skin.

How long does the treatment take?

After your initial consultation, the treatment time should take no longer than 30 minutes, dependent on the number of sites being injected.

How long does Botox take to work?

The results are not immediate, but you should start to see a difference within 5-10 days and the full effect after 2 weeks.

Are there any risks involved?

Side effects of anti-wrinkle injections are rare and it is one of the safest cosmetic procedures available.

However, the most common side effect, apart from bruising, is hibernation of the muscle that lifts the upper eyelid and brow. If it does occur, it is usually short-lived and can be treated with prescribed eyedrops.

How many treatments will I need?

The results of the anti-wrinkle injections usually last between three to four months, although this time frame will differ with each individual. To ensure the best long-term results, you will normally need 4-5 treatments per year although some patients are able to reduce their number of treatments as their muscles re-train.

After your treatment there is very little recovery time needed so you can carry on with your normal routine after your appointment.

Your qualified practitioner will advise you on suitability for treatment and post-treatment care.

Frown Lines, otherwise known as Glabellar lines, are vertical lines that appear between the eyebrows.

These lines can appear over time from the effects of ageing, sun exposure and habitual frowning. Many people feel that as these lines become more pronounced they appear tired or cross all the time, when in fact they are nothing of the sort!

Treating these lines with anti-wrinkle injections can make a difference to how you see yourself and how others perceive you on first impression. Not only will the treatments reduce the appearance of these lines, but improvements will last with each subsequent treatment.

Crow’s feet, also known as laughter lines, are the fine lines that appear at the corner of the eyes, either while smiling or laughing.

They develop over time from sun exposure, squinting and as part of the ageing process. Although they start off as relatively fine lines, over time they become more pronounced.

Treating these lines with anti-wrinkle injections, can refresh and brighten your face, showing off your eyes and reducing those tell-tale signs of aging.

As with all our procedures, we are committed to achieving the best aesthetic result and will customise the treatment to your individual requirements.

Horizontal lines that form across the forehead are common to most individuals and are caused by repeatedly lifting the eyebrows and forehead. Exposure to sun and the ageing process will gradually make these lines more pronounced over time.

Treatments with anti-wrinkle injections will relax the muscle responsible for these movements, leaving a smooth, worry-free brow that immediately looks fresher and younger.

At The Beautiful Skin Clinic, our experienced practitioners will leave adequate movement of the forehead, so that you do not have a ‘frozen’ or unnatural look. Over time and with regular treatments the lines will lose some or all of their prominence and the number of appointments needed to maintain a line-free forehead becomes few and fewer.

Bunny lines are small, horizontal wrinkles that form across the bridge of the nose and are caused by everyday expressions.

The term ‘bunny’ is a reference to the distinctively wrinkled and twitchy noses of rabbits and while this may be endearing on a bunny rabbit, are not so attractive when we are left with deep and unflattering lines.

At the The Beautiful Skin Clinic we can soften bunny lines with anti-wrinkle injections which decrease the amount of facial creases that form and leave you with a smooth, nasal bridge.

Our specialist practitioners are committed to achieving the best aesthetic result and will tailor the treatment to suit your individual needs.
